Flocking Process

Flocking Process

The flocking process involves applying adhesive to the surface of paper and using a flocking machine to spray fibers onto the adhesive layer, followed by drying and removing excess fibers. In most cases, this technique is applied to paper substrates, resulting in a finished product that looks and feels somewhat like velvet.

Edge coloring and Gilding are super popular at the moment. Edge coloring involves painting the edge of the sheet with ink and edge gilding is the same idea but uses foil instead of ink. The production process is so top secret that we will never reveal how it’s done! Edge coloring/gilding add an extra pop of color to invites and business cards.

The edge coloring process includes:

  • Roll Gilding (Roll Gold Edges): Applying various colors through hot stamping on the book edges.
  • Spray Coloring:Using a spraying technique to add color.
  • Screen Printing: Utilizing screen printing on the edges, including colorful patterns.

  • In the depicted book, the edge coloring process used is screen printing, enhancing the book's uniqueness.
